For this month’s Masterclass, I had a beautiful conversation with .
Lauren is one of my absolute favourite people on Substack - her publication, Held. By Lauren Barber, is such a nourishing and restorative space, and her membership holds a wealth of information as well as gorgeous practices to soothe your nervous system.
I’m fascinated by the information Lauren shares on Human Design. As neurodivergent people, we’ve often been taught that our way of thinking and being in the world is “wrong”, and that we need to adapt ourselves to try to follow a more neurotypical model. But what if the way our brains work isn’t an accident, or a flaw in how we were made? What if this is exactly how we are supposed to be? What if this is our design, and our purpose in the world?
“Human Design gives you a roadmap to then play with, and then see… ‘What would happen if I rested more?’ Or, ‘what would happen if I went and sat in a different space?’, for example, or with a different person. And just see. It’s wisdom. But it’s not a quick fix. There will be things that suddenly land, and you’re like, “Oh, wow, permission to be myself!” But there are also lots of things where we have to practise and experiment and explore and get curious, and then be like, ‘Ok, that didn’t work, that did work’… It’s a creative project in itself!”

Anything that helps us to better understand who we are and how we can live, work and create in a way that suits our brains and our needs is good by me, and Lauren shows how we can use Human Design as another tool to support that process.
Lauren is also someone I admire a great deal because of the way that she runs her business from the heart. So I also wanted to ask her how she listens to her heart amongst all the noise, and stays true to what is right for her in the face of so many conflicting messages.
I know you’ll get so much out of listening to Lauren speak, so please enjoy!
